In 1936, Hans Julius Bauer, thrilled by the prospects of the growing German optical industry, founded a trade company as a sales-representation for such respected companys such as Ernst Leitz (Leica) and Gossen, he could not be aware of the development of his company over the decades to come.

Today - as a specialist for sport optics - Bauer produce a wide range of optical products, with the idea to provide the best possible value for money.

But one thing never changed during all those years: technology innovations, which allow us to time and time again view an even more detailled, brilliant look at the world around us through the lenses!

The basic construction principels are more or less the same, but new lens coatings, fluoride-containing lenses, magnesium alloy housing and over all optical and electronical components gives our products a new a big leap forward in the optics race!

These days, normal rules don't apply as much with the advances in technology. 8x50 can now easily be compared to a 8x56, and a 8x32 is a now considered a good universal binocular in many cases - despite of the compact size and the smaller lens diameter.

Currently the ED-Line is our Top category followed by the HD-Line which is consistently designed for the hunting and stalking market. The new designed generation of high performance binoculars stands out from the crowd of other ones and provides an even sharper, more contrasted image, now that we use types of glass with anomalous partial dispersion.

Modern lens and mirrored prism systems enable a bright, detailed, high-contrast image reproduction. The newly developed phase-correction coating on the prisms enhances the image contrast during a long time observing. Because of an extreme close focus distance of only 2 m, the world in miniature (e.g. of insects on flowers) is also an experience with our binoculars enabled by a greater distance.

Of course, all binoculars of the BAUER ED, HD and Outdoor Lines are filled with dry nitrogen, to prevent the ingress of moisture and fogging on the inside.

The new generation of binoculars emphasises our demand to offer binoculars on the market which are each identified with the best price performance/ratio.

Especially the new Bauer product line shows the dynamic development to excellent quality despite being mid-price level.
ED-lenses, dielectric prism coatings, magnesium-alloyhousing, water-repellant coatings - all these High-end features leads to a new quality of sport optics.
